IF: Extremes
Katla, emerging from primitive
times, is an extremely cruel
monstrosity.
I am also extremely stretching the
IF topic again.
This is another illustration for my
Brothers Lionheart submissions
for Bologna. It took me almost a day to figure out
a proper head - the monster in the book is
clearly described as a dragon, but I hate
dragons with their schmaltzy fantasy symbolism,
they remind me of half-naked women and He-Man.
So I went for something that looks like a cross
between a dog and a snake (well, that´s what
it turned out to be anyways), but I like how it
looks a bit weird and scary. I mean,
who still finds dragons scary?
Comments extremely appreciated.

NOW that's EXTREME!
extremely odd creature, nice color choice and i love the line work
fantastic work! I love your style, really amazing!
This is very cool!
Extremely awesome!
I love the line work and the arms and the red stockings (or are they spats?)
Dragons symbolise a kind of wisdom or something as well, don't they? They frighten people because of their knowledge. I share with you the same boredom about this fantasy icon, but I still think dragon bear a modern psychological strenght. They are more than animals, they are clever. For that matter, your "Tyrant" drawing is not far from a dragon somehow: a personnality fits well to dragons.
FJ, I like this. And all the pointy mountain boobs too. :-)
Very creative and a cool style!
you've done well with the creature, a good combination of the freakish and the recognisable. archaic. beasty.
your colour scheme is great too, strong and confident.
i like the mountains, although i disagree with willie that they look like boobs. : )
If my breasts looked like your mountains I'd stab anyone I came into contact with - by accident I men, not intentionally!. Like the monster though, and great colours.
strangely VERY appealing. I love it.
I love you extremely dolle!
This is EXTREMELY cool. But you don't need to be so hard on dragons ... some of them are pretty cool (like the Chinese ones, for example).
Ooh yes, this is amazing. I like the way you work alot! I want the wee beast to be my pet :)
